funny, those have always worked for me, but then again, i'm not a "doctor." before i start this piece of BlogHistory, i should mention that it has come to my attention that DownUnderNiko sounds suspiciously like the name of a Desi Porn site. if you have any better ideas, please send them to toddsindianfetish@gmail.com. also, as soon as i learn how to hyperlink text to pictures of people's sunburnt butts, this will either become a lot more interesting or a lot more gross.
i'm not sure what "news" i have at the moment, but here goes. at the close of week two, Oz is still pretty great, although i still don't feel like i have a real feel for the city's personality. i suppose it's still early though. from what i have noticed, the city is beautiful, clean, very international, and full of freakishly friendly, outgoing, good-looking people. i was talking to a brasilian i met here, and tried to explain the word "grit" in broken english-portuguese. because at this point, that's what seems to be missing...no one jumping on the public transportation, playing drums, breakdancing, selling candy bars for a "basketball team" or generally asking for money/attention. nothing that seems any more than 50 or so years old (even people, for that matter!), nothing...ugly. matheus (the braslian) responds, "so you're saying you miss homeless people and the smell of urine???" i guess this is what is meant by 'language barriers'. in the meantime, i should add that perhaps not EVERYthing is spotless...there are certainly copious amounts of large, gross bugs found everywhere...in the middle of the street, on the uni campus, inside and outside the house. yum.
other than that, school is moving right along, and the classes at this point seem like they will be challenging. the job search continues, but meanwhile i am doing a lot of playing.... went "surfing" twice this week (or at least, the board and i were both in the ocean at the same time), and i will FINALLY (ahem, rex, kat) see the Princess Bride this week at the beachfront open air film festival.
